Kingsmen Eighth After Day One of SCIAC Champs

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's swimming and diving currently sits in eighth place after day one of the 2023 SCIAC Champions on Wednesday night. 

The championships are Wednesday through Saturday and hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at East Los Angeles College. 

The meet started with diving and two relays. In the 200-yard medley relay, the team placed seventh as the team of Kyle Denson, Lincoln Hall, Marcel Hurtubise and Joshua Blank combined for a time of one minute and 34.68 seconds. 

In the 800 free relay, Cal Lutheran's "A" team was disqualified for an early take-off. The "B" team of Zane Booth, Collin Spargur, Ethan Smith and Blank placed 14th with 7:14.39 and grabbed points. 

The championships continue with day two on Thursday. The events include women's 1-meter dive prelims, men's 1-meter dive championship, 500 free, 200 individual medley, 50 free and 200 freestyle relay.
