Kingsmen, Regals Host SCIAC Championships

VENTURA, Calif. — California Lutheran University is hosting the 2023 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's and Women's Golf Championship April 23-25 at Olivas Links Golf Course.

The team score for a SCIAC championship consists of two rounds at SCIAC #1 and SCIAC #2 and then three rounds at the SCIAC Championship, for a total of seven rounds. The individual champion is from the final three rounds at the SCIAC Championship. 

The Regals are currently in fourth place with 1,251 strokes. Redlands has the lead at 1,205, Pomona-Pitzer is next with 1,221, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is third at 1,251. 

The Kingsmen are currently in fifth place with 1,198 strokes. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps has the lead at 1,153, Pomona-Pizer is next with 1,163, La Verne has 1,181, and Redlands is right behind them with 1,182. 

The championship will have live stats all three days and a live stream on Monday and Tuesday. Team will tee-off in a shotgun format at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The rounds on Monday and Tuesday start at 7:30 a.m.

Family, friends, and fans are more than welcome to attend and view the 2023 SCIAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships, knowing that they must abide by the health and safety rules and course regulations. Tickets are $10. Free admission is granted for anyone with a SCIAC ID or a child under 12. 

  • Tickets should be purchased ahead of time for all spectators at:  
  • Spectators must check-in at the SCIAC table and receive their wristband for the day which must be worn at all times.
  • Spectators are not permitted to bring any outside food or beverage to the course. 
  • There will be NO tee-shirts for sale at the championship.
  • Spectators will be asked to put all electronic devices such as cell phones to be placed on silent mode.
  • Only coaches are permitted to coach the athletes while they are on the course. Any conversation with athletes could be interpreted as unauthorized coaching under USGA Rule 8, and the athlete could be given a two-stroke penalty as a result.
  • Spectators may help look for and locate errant balls, but should not touch or move the ball or anything near the ball.
  • There is a lot of wildlife on the course. Spectators are encouraged to remain on cart paths and out of the brush areas.
