Regals Face D-1 Competition on Day Two of Harvard Invite

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — California Lutheran University women's water polo wrapped up the Harvard Invite with top-notch competition and took on two Division I opponents on Sunday morning. The Regals fell to Indiana 12-5 and Long Island 13-8. 

Against Indiana, the Regals were overpowered by the Division I opponent. Kemi Dijkstra recorded two goals and Bethany Metcalfe, Lexi Rond and Tamara Verdiell all had one. Rond led the team with three drawn ejections and two steals. 

Izzy De Souza was in the cage and had the tough task of trying to stop the Hoosiers. She made three saves. 

Versus Long Island, Rond led the Purple and Gold with seven drawn ejections, five goals and two assists. She was the team-leader in all three categories. Jacsen Donohue, Kaitlin Gardhouse and Metcalfe each added a goal. 

De Souza continued the day in goal. She made 10 saves while Jessica Diaz and Gardhouse each had a steal. 

Cal Lutheran jumps back into SCIAC action this week. The Regals host La Verne on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
