Regals Head to SCIAC Tournament for 13th Time; Every Year Since Inception

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's volleyball has been in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) every year since its inception in 2009. This marks the 13th straight year as the Regals boast the second-best conference record at 13-3. 

The Regals are the No. 2 seed and host No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer on Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the SCIAC Tournament final and will take on No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps or No. 4 La Verne. The championship game is on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the highest remaining seed.

Anyone with an ID from a SCIAC institution will get free admission to every SCIAC Tournament game. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketleap for $8, or are $10 at the door. 

First Team All-SCIAC honoree Maci Haddad leads Cal Lutheran at the net, offensively and defensively. She has 280 kills, averaging 2.95 per set, and is hitting with an impressive .392 percentage. On defense, she has recorded 93 total blocks, making 0.98 a set. 

Five more Regals have 100-plus kills First Team All-SCIAC Sophia Muller has 259, Kennedy Crane is next with 138, Sadie Peete has added 131, Miranda Chan has 109 and Kira Mortensen has 102. 

Tess Holbert and Jalyn Chun help orchestrate the offense. Holbert has dished out 563 assists and has added 179 digs, 36 kills, 35 aces and 17 blocks. Chun has 252 assists, 162 digs and 27 aces. Second Team All-SCIAC Julia Trento leads the defense with 392 digs to go along with 100 assists and 37 aces.
