Haddad Joins 1,000 Kills Club; Regals Get Back in Win Column

ORANGE, Calif. — Maci Haddad recorded her 1,000th kill, joining elite company, as Cal Lutheran women's volleyball got back in the win column, sweeping the Chapman Panthers on Saturday afternoon. Scores of the match were 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.

Haddad was at 990 kills going into the match, and did exactly what she needed, swatting down 10 kills. She is the ninth Regal with 1,000 kills. 

Haddad was efficient as she led the Regals. She had an attack percentage of .429 and added four assists, two digs and one block assist. 

Miranda Chan and Sophia Muller were next with eight kills each while Sadie Peete and Kennedy Crane both added seven. 

Tess Holbert recorded her seventh double-double of the year and third in four games. She put up 12 assists, 10 digs and added two kills. Jalyn Chun got the start at the setter position and tallied 20 assists, seven digs and three service aces. 

Julia Trento led the defense and recorded a match-high 17 kills. After Holbert's 10, Muller and Isabella Wade recorded seven each. 

The Regals got better each set hitting .250 in the first, .289 in the second and .298 in the third. Five Regals hit over .300 as they bounced back for a hard fought win against the Panthers.

Chapman put up a good fight as every set went into the 20's on both sides. Cal Lutheran was up for the challenge as they swept their competition. 

The Regals are ready to build another winning streak as they improve to 4-1 in conference and 8-7 overall. Cal Lutheran host Caltech on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
