THOUSAND OAKS, Calf.  In their first game at home, the Cal Lutheran women's volleyball team played with poise and excitement as they knocked off the No. 10 team in the nation, Colorado College, 3-2 on Friday night. Scores of the match were 18-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 15-11.

It was day one of the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational which featured six games with top competition. The invite continues tomorrow with six more games.

Sophia Muller had a career day and recorded a match-high 19 kills. She was one dig shy of a double-double and had nine.

Maci Haddad was next with 13 kills, hitting with a .379 percentage, Sadie Peete added nine kills and Kennedy Crane had eight. Hadded tallied a team-high four blocks.

Tess Holbert continued her strong year at the setter position and recorded her fourth double-double. She dished out 37 assists, had 12 digs and added three kills. Jalyn Chun also saw action at the setter position and recorded 11 assists and four digs.

Julia Trento led the defense. She was all over the court and recorded a match-high 21 digs. It is the second time this year that she has had 20-plus digs.

Cal Lutheran answered every call from Colorado Col. The Tigers took the first and third sets as the Regals won the second and fourth.

In the fifth set, the Regals jumped out to a 6-2 lead. Trento and Alysha Buffini served aces during the run and Haddad capped off the four-point advantage with a kill.

A few plays later, up 7-4, the Regals had one of the most important stretches of the game. Haddad, Muller and Holbert recorded back-to-back-to-back kills. It was the separation they needed as the Regals pulled off the upset at home.

The Regals are back at it tomorrow for day two of the Cal Lu Fornia. They will take on Minn.-Morris at 12 p.m. and Endicott at 6.
