Orange, Calif. – After a hard fought four sets, the Regals ended their Chapman University match up with a 3-1 deficit to the Panthers.
Freshman hitter Sophia Muller recorded 13 kills while Maci Haddad and Miranda Chan each had 10 themselves. Despite the loss, the combination of these three at the net were a huge offensive threat to the Panthers.
It was a close first set with a loss of 25-19 but in the second set the Regals took it to extra points. They fell 26-24 but showed they were eager for a win.
In the third set they won with a convincing score of 25 to 17, forcing the Panthers into a fourth set. It was another close set but ultimately the Panthers pulled through with a 25-22 score.
Setter Jenna Jones recorder 19 assists and teammate Tess Holbert was right behind her with 18.
Not only was Haddad a threat at the net, she was able to play offense from the serving line too. She recorded five aces on the night while teammate Isabella Wade also contributed with three aces and 24 digs.
The Regals return to Gilbert to play the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens Tuesday at 7 pm.
