Tigers Upset Regals With An Overtime Goal

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – It was the Regals second to last game of the season and they were on the road against the Occidental Tigers. After a fluke goal in overtime, the Tigers bested the Regals 2-1.

The Regals started taking control of the first half early on and got a goal in the 13th minute. Isabella Veljacic was the one to put it in the back of the net, marking her ninth goal of the season.

The Purple and Gold had three shots in the first half. Veljacic, Danielle Vis, and Darya Rasoli were the ones knocking on the keeper's door.

Goalkeeper Gabby Flores, a veteran on the Occidental field, collected four saves in the first 45 to keep the Tigers at 0.

The Regals ramped up the offense in the second half and added five more shots to the stat sheet. Trinity Martinez, Mandy Crawford and Mackenzie Boulware were the ones that added to the mix.

Flores tallied three more saves before regulation time ended. They headed into overtime with a score of 1-1.

It was less than five minutes in to the first overtime when the Purple and Gold conceded a goal. The golden goal rule got the best of the Regals when the Tigers were able to send one over Flores's head, ending the game immediately.

The Regals are back on the road Saturday for their final game of the regular season. They travel to Whittier for a 7 pm kick off time.
