Colossal 5-0 Shut Out On Senior Night For Regals Soccer

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – The Regals honored 10 seniors in their last home game of the regular season against Cal Tech. They had a colossal 5-0 win over the Beavers.

The Purple and Gold started off the first half outshooting the Beavers 10 to 1. Danielle Vis opened up the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute. The Regals held possession for the majority of the first half and Alexandra Fagerberg bagged another one for the Regals before the first 45 were over.

Fagerberg took the ball up the right side and ripped a shot from outside the 18 to find the side netting over the goalkeeper's head.

The backline held it down and protected Gabby Flores on the line. She secured one save in the first half.

The Regals kept the gas on the offense and outshot the Beavers in the second half 11-2. It was only four minutes in when senior Mackenzie Boulware placed the perfect ball on Vis's foot so she could slide her second goal past the keeper.

10 minutes later the Purple and Gold came down the right side in hunt for their fourth goal. Freshman Avery West was able to beat the Caltech defender and serve the ball into the box. Mandy Crawford was waiting at the front post and volleyed the lofted cross in with her right foot.

It was a short seven minutes later when Crawford was able to score again. Off a cross from Fagerberg, the ball was bouncing around in the box but the Beavers were unable to clear it before Crawford could put her finishing touches on it for the 5th and final goal of the game.

11 different Regals tested the Caltech keeper tonight and they were very successful.

Aly Legrand, Katie Weaver, and Katherine Martinson were able to get into the attack even from the backline and each tallied a shot themselves.

Freshman goalkeeper Brissa Garcia-Sandoval made her debut and made it on the stat sheet with one save on one shot attempted. Flores also had another save in the second half.

The Regals travel to Redlands for an 11 am start time this Saturday.
