Regals Extend Shutout Streak to 4 with 2-0 Win

LA VERNE, Calif – Cal Lutheran Women's Soccer team continued their undefeated run in the SCIAC tonight with a 2-0 win over the University of La Verne Leopards.

The Leopards tried to jump out early with the match's first shot on goal just 1:57 into the game. Senior goal keeper Gabby Flores handled that effort which proved to be the only shot the Regals would allow in the match.

The Regals controlled possession until Danielle Vis found senior Sonia Chan who found the back of the net for the third time this season.

In the 14th minute, Vis would beat the Leopard keeper, but her effort rang off the post.

The Regals continued to apply pressure until finally breaking through against with a goal from junior Mandy Crawford in the 42nd minute, her first of the season.

Cal Lutheran's offense won the shot battle 8-1 and forced 4 corners to the Leopard's 1. Flores recorded her 6th shutout of the season and the Regal defense extended their time holding opponents scoreless to 4 straight matches.

The Regals will be back on the road to take on the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 7pm.
