THOUSAND Oaks, Calif. – Regals soccer hosted the Sagehens in their afternoon battle for the top spot in conference. Both teams knew what was at stake and took the game to double overtime.

It was tight 45 minutes on a hot Satuday afternoon as the score remained 0-0 until the half. Elisa Shott had the lone shot for the purple and gold in the first half as the Sagehen defense wasn't allowing much opportunity.

The Regals defensive line was just as strong and only allowed two shots to be taken on keeper Gabby Flores.

The offensive line was creative in the final third but didn't quite have the final piece they needed.

The second half started out with the Regals pressing the Sagehens back line for five minutes straight, hardly allowing the ball into their defensive half.

The Regals tallied four shots in the second half but still couldn't connect with the back of the net. Though they were unable to score, they were able to rely on their defensive line to keep a clean slate.

Flores racked up four saves in the second 45 but none of them tested her too much.

Heading into overtime the Regals had the kick off and a few good chances right off the bat. They were pressing hard but remained scoreless in the first 10.

Heading into the final 10 minutes of the game the purple and gold were hungry for a goal and played aggressively from the defensive third all the way to the top.

The Regals and Sagehens had opportunities on each side but none were able to capitalize. The battle between the two showed why they're the top teams in the conference.

The Regals travel to La Verne on Wednesday night for a 7:00 pm kick off.
