Regals Maintain Undefeated Conference Record

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif – The Regals, currently ranked No. 1 in conference, hosted the No. 3 Chapman Panthers in William Rolland Stadium Wednesday night. This was the first time the Regals and Panthers stepped on the field together this season.

It was a tight 15 minutes to start the game as both the teams knew what were at stake. Isabella Veljacic found herself on the end line with a ball on her foot and an open Sonia Chan on the top of the box.

Veljacic hit a line drive for an easy one touch shot off Chan's right foot. This blew right past the keeper and resulted in the first and only goal of the game.

The purple and gold held the majority of possession in the first half but remained scoreless for the rest of the first 45.

The Panthers only tallied three shots on goal that were all effortless saves by keeper Gabby Flores.

The second half started with a few good chances by the Regals but they were unable to capitalize. Both teams put forward strong offensive efforts but both defensive lines were playing a tight game.

The Regals put up a total of six shots in the second half but couldn't get another one to go. Freshman Adriana Maroney and junior Izzy Martinez both had two shots themselves but couldn't quite put one in the back of the net.

Flores put up another four saves in the second half to keep the clean slate for the purple and gold.

The Regals host Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
