Regals Defeat The Poets 3-0

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Regals were able to bag three goals against the Poets in their third conference game of the season.

It was a tight first half in William Rolland stadium as the Regals looked to extend their three-game win streak against the Whittier Poets.

The purple and gold tallied a total of 7 shots in the first 45 but couldn't get one past the Poet keeper. Sonia Chan hit two incredible shots from outside the box but wasn't able to connect.

The Regals back line was holding it down in the defensive half and only allowed three shots on goal, none that were too challenging for keeper Gabby Flores to handle.

Trinity Martinez decided she was done with the 0-0 score and cracked a shot outside the box to put it in the back of the net.

The purple and gold weren't done with the scoring just yet. Alexandra Fagerberg found freshman teammate Elisa Shott to put another one in. Shott squared up inside the 18 and was able to push the ball just past the keeper for the second goal of the night.

They decided two wasn't enough. Martinez sent a ball in from the right side and after it bounced around in the box and made its way through the Poet defense, Sophie Saiki buried it between the keeper's legs. This marks her first goal of the season.

Avalon Valousky almost tacked on a fourth goal off a free kick right outside the box but just missed it by hitting the post.

The Regals controlled possession in the second half, hardly giving the Poets an opportunity at a goal.

They head to Santa Cruz this weekend to play in two games.
