Regals Send Bearcats Home With a 3-1 Loss

The Regals returned to the pitch Sunday afternoon to face the Willamette Bearcats. Within the first two minutes, Alexandra Fagerberg found the head of freshman teammate Elisa Shott to push it past the Bearcat goalkeeper.

After their first goal the Regals held the majority of possession during the first half, passing around Willamette with ease.

In the 30th minute, junior forward Isabella Veljacic was played in the box with her back to goal and one defender between her and the keeper. She used her craftiness to turn and hit the back of the net. Darya Rasoli was her accomplice in securing the second goal.

Just two minutes after, Veljacic wanted an assist for herself and played teammate Mackenzie Boulware a perfect ball to run on to. Boulware kept her composure in front of the keeper and slotted her to the left, getting her first goal this season.

The Regals defense stayed connected in the back allowing only three shots, none of which were on frame.

A lot of new faces saw the field in the second half for the Regals. They continued to knock on the Bearcats door but left all their scoring in the first half.

The Regals outshot the Bearcats 22 to 4 and forced the Willamette goalkeeper to make 12 saves.

The purple and gold hit the road on Wednesday September 8th to play the Chapman Panthers at 4 pm.
