THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Wyatt Lowe scored the game winner with 11 seconds left and the California Lutheran University men's water polo team defeated the Redlands Bulldogs 6-5 to open conference play.

The defensive, low scoring game went back and forth over the final eight minutes with three lead changes. The Kingsmen were down 5-3 with 6:02 left before they stormed back.

Leading the charge for the Purple and Gold was Justin Krause as he put up a hat trick on just five shots.

David Brandt and Cole Weiderman each added a goal as the Kingsmen needed every point to outlast the Bulldogs.

Jonathan Salandi was in the cage and combined the defense for an impressive outing. He got the win as he made 15 saves to give his squad the huge win.

It was a slow start for both teams ad Redlands took a 1-0 lead after the first quarter. The Kingsmen shut out the Bulldogs in the next period and went up 2-1 at the half. The score was tied 3-3 at the end of the third as Redlands edged the Kingsmen 2-1 in the third.

It all came down to the final period, and after Redlands went up 5-3, the Kingsmen fired back with three straight goals to steal the game.

Up next for men's waterpolo is Chapman. The Kingsmen host the Panthers on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
