Men's Swim and Dive Take Tri-Meet over Redlands, Whittier

REDLANDS, Calif. — California Lutheran's Mens Swim team took home victory over both University of Redlands and Whittier College in a tri-meet that saw the Kingsmen standing on the podium in every event.

In the shortest event of the meet, Joshua Nekoba took 3rd with a time of 21.97.

The Kingsmen were fast in all of the 100-yard disciplines. Keegan March (47.57) won the freestyle. Miles Gaitan (52.94) and Kyle Denson (52.94) took first and second in the backstroke. The Kingsmen swept the podium in the breast stroke thanks to Luke Rodarte's 1st place (56.23), Lincoln Hall's 2nd (59.73) and Brenden Fuglles' 3rd (1:00.55). Rounding out the 100-yard events with the butterfly, Marcel Hurtubise placed 2nd (53.06).

The 200-yard events saw much of the same from Cal Lutheran. The freestyle was won by Keegan March (1:44.40) with Jack Caelan taking 3rd (1:47.44). Kyle Denson (1:58.71) won the backstroke and Miles Gaitan (1:59.49) came in 3rd. The butterfly saw Zane Boothe (2:06.92) take 3rd for the Kingsmen to keep the podium streak alive. Luke Rodarte (2:05.79) won the breast stroke with Lincoln Hall (2:13.57) coming in third. Nathan Sellers (2:01.63) finished held on to 3rd in the individual medley.

The distance events, the 500-yard freestyle and 1600-yard freestyle each ended with the same result as Stephen Blaauw (4:43.47 and 16:05.34) won both events while the second prize went to Cole Weiderman (4:51.23 and 16:10.80).

The Kingsmen sealed the event by taking the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of Keegan March, Joshua Nekoba, Ethan Smith, and Nathan Sellers finishing with a time of 1:27.22 and a final win.

The Kingsmen will look to continue their momentum as they begin the SCIAC Championships on Saturday February 12th.
