Kingsmen Win 13 events, Defeat Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. — California Lutheran University men's swimming and diving claimed 13 events and won a dual meet against Chapman 180-84 on Saturday afternoon.

The Kingsmen were led by Andreas Nybo with individual three wins while Stephen Blaauw, Lincoln Hall and Keegan March had three each. 

Nybo claimed both butterfly events and also won the 200-yard individual medley. He won the 200 fly with one minute and 55.75 seconds and followed it up by winning the 100 fly with 52.53. He continued his dominance and won the 200 IM with 1:55.75. 

Blaauw won the longer freestyle events. He touched the wall first on the 500-yard free with 4:45.24 and claimed the 1,000 free with 9:50.24. Cole Weiderman was second in the 1,000 free, improving on his top-10 time, and is now fourth in the CLU record book with 10:00.22. 

Hall won both breaststroke events. He claimed the 100 breast with 1:00.71 and took the 200 with 2:16.64. 

March won the shorter freestyle races. March took the gold in the 100 and 200 free with 49.24 and 1:46.67, respectively. 

Miles Gaitan and Joshua Nekoba made it six Kingsmen with an event win. Gaitan beat the competition in the 100-yard backstroke and was at the podium with a time of 54.37. Nekoba was first to the wall in the 50-yard free with 21.83. 

The Kingsmen won two relays on the day. Gaitan, Hall, Nybo and Nick Kenny won the 200-yard medley with 1:37.77 while Kenny, March. Nathan Sellers and Nekoba claimed the 200-yard free relay with 1:27.88. 

The Kingsmen continue the season on the road. Cal Lutheran is at La Verne on Jan. 29 for a tri-meet against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and La Verne.
