Kingsmen Come Up Short After A Tough 90-Minute Battle

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Kingsmen soccer played under the lights at Occidental College this evening and fell short of the win with a final score of 3-1.

Despite the strong defensive efforts from the Kingsmen, Occidental was able to get two goals in the first 45. Justin Magana decided he wasn't going to leave the half scoreless for the Kingsmen and put one in the back of the net himself in the 21st minute.

The purple and gold tallied four shots in the first half but the highlight in those first 45 was goalkeeper Ivan Lumbrano. He had six saves on the line for the Kingsmen and was a huge help in their defensive efforts.

The Kingsmen upped their offensive presence in the second half and had nine shots. Unfortunately, they were unable to get another one to fall and ended the 90-minute match with a score of 3-1. Lumbrano racked up another four saves in the second half.

JP Melgoza and Justin Magana each had three shots for the Kingsmen while Giovanni Torres and Jackson Endsley each added another two. To finish it off, Erick Mejia, Michael Bogart, and Daniel Whitworth all had one shot themselves.

The Kingsmen return to their home turf on Saturday to play Redlands at 7:00 pm.
