Lugo Era Starts With A 37-7 Win

Kingsmen Football starts off with a home season opener win of 37-7 against Southwestern this Saturday night in William Rolland Stadium.

Quarterback Nick Lasher threw for a total of 254 yards and two of his throws resulted in touchdowns.

The Kingsmen put up their first touchdown of the night half way through the first quarter. It was first and goal and Jackson Taylor was able to cross the line into the endzone to get the scoring started.

Lasher found James Holland one versus one on his way to the endzone and laid up a perfect throw for him to run on to. Holland bested his opponent and secured the second touchdown of the night for the Kingsmen.

The momentum started to flow and the Kingsmen owned the whole stadium. As the Pirates were trying to get out of their defensive quarter, Zion Brown read the play and had a pick six before the half was over.

Taylor wasn't done scoring just yet. He ran in for his second touchdown of the game to propel the Kingsmen even farther into the lead during the third quarter.

After that, Lasher continued to connect with is receivers and found Cameron Jones for the final touchdown of the night.

Not only did the offense have an outstanding performance, the defense shut the pirates down allowing them only one touchdown throughout all 60 minutes. The defensive line was able to sack both quarterbacks the Pirates put in and had no problem keeping them away from the goal line. It was a complete team effort to start off this season.

The Kingsmen will be back in William Rolland Stadium on Saturday the 11th at 7 p.m. to take on Pacific Lutheran.
