No. 1 Regals Take Two Games from Cuesta College

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Women's water polo dominated Cuesta College as they swept them in two games on Saturday afternoon at home. The Regals won the first game 24-5 and wrapped up the day with another win 14-8.

The Regals split into two teams, as every player got see action in the pool.

Lexi Rond led the team in the first game with an incredible eight goal performance. She also had two assists, three steals, and led the team with three drawn exclusions. Kaitlin Gardhouse added five goals of her own.

The defensive effort was strong as freshman Izzy De Souza had seven saves and got the win.

Rachel Ray contributed four goals and Diaz and Elyse Koe each added two. The offense wasn't holding anything back as they came out in the first quarter with seven goals and added another 10 goals in the second quarter, making the score 17-1 at halftime.

Koe led the team in assists with seven, Bethany Metcalfe, Diaz, and Ray each added two to the team total of 22.

Diaz led the team with four steals as the defense held Cuesta to only five goals and had 18 steals all together.

In the second game of the day Katherine Knight was focused on the goal as she led the Purple and Gold with five goals and also added two drawn exclusions.

Kailtin Moreno was ready for anything in the goal as she had 13 saves and three assists.

Jay Clerou, Mackenzie Thomas, and Aryana Johnson each contributed two goals to help the Regals over Cuesta. Knight and Clerou each added four assists pushing the team to a total of 10.

The No. 1 Cal Lutheran women's water polo team looks on to their next game at Redlands on Saturday, April 17th at 11:00 a.m.
