Regals Defeat Beavers, Move to 8-1 in SCIAC Play

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Eight Regals scored as Cal Lutheran women's water polo controlled the game from the first whistle and defeated the Caltech Beavers 15-3 on Saturday morning at Samuelson Aquatics Center. 

The Regals won their fifth straight game and are now 8-1 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play and 15-7 overall. This is the 13thtime CLU has held its opponent under five points. 

Susanna Zdolsek converted all on four of her shot attempts and led the offense with four goals. Bri Bulkeley added a hat trick as the freshman were impressive against the Beavers. Taylor Campbell kept the ball moving and recorded two assists. 

Defensively, eight Regals recorded a steal, and Rachel Ray had a team-high with two. Kaitlin Moreno saw three quarters of action in the goal. She only allowed three goals, one in each quarter, and made eight saves. 

Cal Lutheran opened the game on fire and outscored Caltech 8-0 in the first quarter. The Regals shared the ball well in the first quarter as Kaitlin GardhouseChristin HirnVictoria Rose Meek(twice) Lexi RondMegan Seeman (twice) and Mackenzie Thomas all scored. 

CLU made it nine goals to start the game as Zdolsek scored her first to start the second quarter. Bulkeley scored her first later in the quarter and the Regals had a 10-1 lead at the break. Cal Lutheran coasted the rest of the way and defeated the Beavers 15-3.

The Regals have five conference games left in the regular season. They are on the road next as Cal Lutheran plays at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
