BRIDGEPORT, Pa.— The Cal Lutheran Regals water polo team garnered the 2018 Women's All-Academic Team Award, announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). Individually, 12 CLU student-athletes received an All-Academic Award.
Cal Lutheran recorded the 14th-best grade point average (GPA) among all divisions with 3.34. The Regals had the third-highest GPA in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). Other SCIAC teams to earn the award were Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (3.49), Pomona-Pitzer (3.44), Caltech (3.32), Chapman (3.31), Occidental (3.30) and Redlands (3.30).
Teams had to have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher to earn the award. Individuals had to have at least a 3.20 to earn the award. For individual awards, the three categories include Outstanding (4.0-3.71), Superior (3.70-3.41) and Excellent (3.40-3.20).
The Regals had six student-athletes make the Outstanding list as Nicole Guerriero,Christin Hirn, Victoria Rose Meek, Miara Pipe, Mackenzie Thomas and Sam Wulfestieg represented the Violet and Gold.
CLU's Megan Seeman, Madelynn Silvis and Remy Wilkison earned the Superior award.
For the Excellent award, Carissa Carlos, Mardell Ramirez and Nikki Roed received recognition.
The mission of the ACWPC is to promote the development and advancement of collegiate water polo. This shall be accomplished by providing its membership with professional education, services, training and a united voice
