Four Regals Named to ACWPC All-American Team

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Four Cal Lutheran Women's Water Polo players were named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches 2018 Division III All-American Team, announced Thursday morning. Bailey Meyer, Victoria Rose Meek and Kristi McGee garnered first team honors and Nikki Roed was named an honorable mention.

In just three seasons as a Regal, Meyer has climbed to No. 3 in the program's all-time record books with 599 career saves. She posted 302 saves alone this season, the highest tally in school history, helping CLU to the SCIAC Postseason Tournament Finals and No. 2 national ranking. She also was named to the All-SCIAC first team this season, her second all-conference honors.

Offensively, Meek was the third leading scorer for the Regals with 34 goals and a .465 shooting percentage. She also led the team with 56 drawn ejections and contributed 22 assists and 10 steals. In her two years at Cal Lutheran, she has collected 117 drawn ejections, the seventh-high amount in program history. Her performance this season also earned her CoSIDA Academic All-District distinctions.

Rounding out the first team trio, McGee led the team with 37 goals and was named to the all-conference first team for the second consecutive year. Her game-winner in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament semifinals sent the Regals to the championship game, firing a shot into the upper right corner to take the 6-5 lead with 1:22 left to play.

Named an All-American Honorable Mention, Roed entered the record books this year with 112 career goals to take over the nine spot and finished the season with 35 goals. Defensively, her game-high five steals against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinals of the SCIAC Post-Season Tournament boosted the defense to the conference title game. She was also named to the all-conference second team for the second year in a row.

In total, the SCIAC collected 23 All-American awards, including every first-team honor. Jocelyn Castro and Alex Rodriguez of Pomona-Pitzer were named Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.
