Meyer Earns SCIAC AOW Honors

LOS ANGELES – This afternoon the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week Twenty-seven Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran's Bailey Meyer was named the women's water polo AOW.

The Regals water polo team went 4-1 on the week and 3-0 in conference play. For the season, CLU is now 5-0 in the SCIAC.

Meyer, a goalkeeper, was in front of the cage during four and a half of the five games. She made 12 saves and only allowed one goal as the Regals shut down Chapman 8-1. Against Whittier, the junior had 11 saves and CLU won 11-4.  Cal Lutheran swept their SCIAC opponents on the week as Meyer had seven saves in the 10-6 win over La Verne.

A native of Santa Ana, Calif., Meyer made a total of 45 saves on the week. The Regals also defeated Connecticut College 8-4, but lost to Macalester 6-4. Cal Lutheran continues SCIAC play as the Regals travel to Caltech for a game Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
