Regals Win Second Straight Five Set Match; Defeat Whittier

WHITTIER, Calif. — For the second day in a row, Cal Lutheran women's volleyball won a five set match as the Regals took down Whittier 3-2 on Saturday night. Scores of the match were 25-13, 22-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-9. 

It is the fourth straight win by the Regals as they improved to 11-2 in conference and 14-8 overall. 

Cal Lutheran has played in seven, five set matches this year. After dropping the first three, the Regals have won the past four. Since Sept. 16, the Regals have a record of 13-2, with their only losses being to the No. 1 team in the nation.

Sophia Muller led the attack against the Poets and recorded 14 kills. Sadie Peet was next and tallied 13 with a.296 hitting percentage. Tess Holbert and Jalyn Chun split time as the setter position. Holbert recorded 16 assists while Chun recorded 13.

Chun notched a double-double as she added 16 digs. Julia Trento had the most digs and tallied 25. She added seven service aces and the Rehals recorded 15 in all. Isabella Wade was next with five aces and added three digs. The Regals tallied 14 blocks as Maci Haddada and Kira Mortensen had four each. 

The Regals continue the season at home. Cal Lutheran host Occidental on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
