Haddad, Rolfson, Roberts Receive League Honors

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Regals volleyball team garnered three All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) selections as Amanda Roberts and Maci Haddad earned First Team and Steph Rolfson was named to the Second Team. The teams were announced Monday morning following a vote by the league's member head coaches.

Roberts receives First Team honors in 2018, after earning Second Team in 2017 and the Newcomer of the Year award in 2015. She helped the Regals to an 11-5 record in conference and to the No. 2 seed in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. An outside hitter from Grass Valley, Calif., Roberts totaled 300-plus kills and digs on the year. She averages the sixth-most kills in the SCIAC with 3.12 per set and is 14th for digs with 3.02 per set. She recorded 14 double-doubles this year in kills and digs. She is one of three senior on the First Team.

A freshman middle blocker, Haddad garnered Frist Team All-SCIAC in 2018. Haddad led the SCIAC in hitting percentage and blocks per set. She averages 2.55 kills per set and hits with a .365 clip. For blocks, she averages 1.08 blocks per set. She is the only student-athlete in the SCIAC that averages over one block per set. Haddad has stepped into the starting lineup this year and has performed up to the expectations. She has recorded double-digit kills 12 times and has a season-high of 20. Her career-high for blocks is 10, which she has done twice. She is one of three freshmen on the First Team.

Rolfson earned the first All-SCIAC honor of her career and was named to the Second Team. A senior from Valley Center, Calif., Rolfson has been instrumental for the offense and defense. She was third in the SCIAC for assists per set and dished out 7.83. She also ranks 20th for digs with 2.16 per set. She totaled 11 double-doubles in assists and digs. She has a career-high 55 assists and 16 for digs. Rolfson can help the Regals in any way as she put up 55 assists, 12 digs, six kills and four blocks all in one game. She was recognized as one of seven seniors on the two teams.

Phoebe Madsen of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year, Chapman's Sophie Srivisstava was the Newcomer of the Year, Caltech's Sakthi Vetrivel earned the Character Award and Kurt Vlasich of CMS garnered Coaching Staff of the Year.
