Regals Jump to No. 11 in Top-25

LEXINGTON, Ky.— The Cal Lutheran women's volleyball team made huge strides during the first weekend of the 2018 season and are now ranked No. 11 in the top-25 which was released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Tuesday morning. 

The Regals came into the weekend unranked, but jumped to No. 11 after going 4-0. They made the biggest move of any team in the top-25. The Violet and Gold also earned one first-place vote.

At the Pacific Coast Classic, Cal Lutheran took on two top-25 teams Friday. The Regals defeated both No. 6 Johnson & Wales and No. 14 Carthage 3-1. On Saturday, Cal Lutheran then knocked off St. Scholastica 3-0 and Salisbury 3-1.

On top of moving into the top-25, junior libero Carly Rose Howard was named to the All-Tournament Team. Senior outside hitter Amanda Roberts picked up Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Offensive Athlete of the Week honors. 

Calvin is the No. 1 ranked team and earned 50 first-place votes. Colorado College and Wittenburg are No. 2 and 3, respectively. 

The Regals are home this Friday and Saturday as they host the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational.
