Women’s Tennis Takes on Chapman in Season Finale

ORANGE, Calif. – Jordan Buck, Carolina Groff Hinojosa and Henna Levanen all won in singles, but Cal Lutheran women's tennis was defeated by Chapman 6-3 on Friday night. 

It was the final dual of the year for Regals Tennis. The Purple and Gold will return their entire squad, as no seniors are on the team.

The Panthers jumped all over the Regals during doubles play. Brennan Foreman and Groff Hinojosa lost 8-3 at the No. 1, Joslin Seaberg and Heidi Levanen came up just short, 8-7 (8), at the No. 2 and Buck and Sophia Gawrit fell 8-2 at the No. 3.

In singles play, the Regals grabbed three points. Hen. Levanen was victorious at the No. 2 (6-2, 3-6, 7-5), Groff Hinojosa came back to win at the No. 3 (4-6, 6-3, 6-1) and Buck claimed the point at the No. 4 (6-4, 6-2).

The Panthers took the rest of the points and the dual. Foreman fell at the No. 1 (6-2, 6-0), Hei. Levanen put up a tough fight, but came up short at the No. 5 (7-5, 7-6) and Gawrit went to the final set at the No. 6 (6-4, 2-6, 7-5). 

After a shortened season, the Regals are ready for a full schedule in 2021-22.
