Regals Defeated by Panthers

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's tennis battled, but fell to the Chapman Panthers 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.

This was the third dual this spring between the Regals and Panthers, with Chapman winning all three.

At doubles, Chapman took the early 2-1 lead. Sophia Gawrit and Jordan Buck played at the No. 3 and won 8-5, but Brennan Foreman and Carolina Groff Hinojosa were defeated 8-7 (5) at the No. 1 and Heidi Levanen and Joslin Seaberg were taken down 8-2 at the No. 2.

The Panthers carried that momentum in to singles play and swept the Regals. Foreman fell at the No. 1 (7-6, 5-7, 10-8), Henna Levanen was at the No. 2 (6-0, 6-1), Groff Hinojosa was defeated at the No. 3 (6-0, 6-2), Buck lost at the No. 4 (6-3, 6-4), Hei. Levanen was at the No. 5 (6-4, 4-6, 11-9) and Gawrit competed at the No. 6 (6-1, 6-2).

The Regals have one more game left this season. Cal Lutheran travels to Chapman for a dual on Friday at 3 p.m.
