Women’s Tennis Gets First Win

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran Women's Tennis got its first win of the season as the Regals defeated Ventura College 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

In doubles play, the No. 2 and 3 spots finished quickly. Heidi Levanen and Joslin Seaberg shut out their competition and won 8-0 in the No. 2 spot. 

The Regals made it a 2-0 lead in the dual as Jordan Buck and Sophia Gawrit won 8-1 at the No. 3. Ventura College stole the final point as Brennan Foreman and Carolina Groff Hinojosa were barely defeated 8-7 (9). 

In singles, the Regals made it a clean sweep, winning five of the six matches in straight sets. 

Foreman won at the No. 1 (6-4, 2-6, 10-8), Groff Hinojosa was victorious at the No. 2 (6-3, 6-2), Buck cruised to a win at the No. 3 (6-2, 6-0), Seaberg won at the No. 4 (6-0, 6-1) Lauren Sebastian shut out her opponent at the No. 5 (6-0, 6-0) and Rubina Copano won at the No. 6 (6-0, 6-2). 

Before going back to conference play, the Regals face a Division I opponent. CLU travels to CSUN for a dual next Thursday, April 22, at 2 p.m.
