Regals Tennis Faces Second D-II Opponent in as Many Duals

IRVINE, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran women's tennis team faced its second Division II opponent in as many duals as the Regals fell to Concordia-Irvine 9-0 on Saturday afternoon. 

The Regals have been tested with tough competition to open the year, responding with close scores.

In doubles play, sisters, junior Heidi Levanen and freshman Henna Levanen played together for the first time at Cal Lutheran. The sisters fell 6-2 in the No. 2 spot.

Also competing in doubles for the Regals was juniors Brennan Foreman and Carolina Groff Hinojosa at the No. 1 (6-1) and sophomore Jordan Buck and junior Sophia Gawrit at No. 3 (6-

Freshman Lauren Sebastian played her first collegiate singles match and kept the score close against the D-II opponent (6-3, 6-4).

Foreman was the No. 1 Regal in singles and got defeated 6-3, 6-2, Hen. Levanen was the No. 2 and fell 6-1, 6-0, Groff Hinojosa got defeated 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 3, Hei. Levanen lost 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 4 and Jordan Buck came up short 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5.

Next up for Women's Tennis is Cal State Northridge. The Regals continue on the road with their dual set for Tuesday at 2 p.m.
