Regals Open Season at Malibu Invite; Two Crash Top-10 List

MALIBU, Calif. — Sophomore Alice Peterson and freshman Kendall Moffitt both swam their way into the Cal Lutheran record books as Regals swimming and diving competed at the Malibu Invite. The event was hosted by Pepperdine over Friday and Saturday. 

In her first collegiate meet, Moffitt won her first collegiate race. She won the 1,000-yard freestyle as she touched the wall with 10 minutes and 52.43 seconds. It was also the second-fastest time in program history. 

Moffitt cracked the record book for the 100-yard butterfly also, with a time of 1:01.01 and in eight-place.

Petersen was the runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke, and it was the sixth-fastest time in program history, as she clocked a time of 2:13.18. 

Junior Kyrie Fairbairn took second in the 100-yard freestyle as she clocked in with a time of 57.37. 

Sophomore Nektaria Anagnostou took third in her race. She brought home bronze in the 100-yard breaststroke with 1:13.58.

The Regals' relay team's brought home two runner-up finishes. Peterson, Fairbairn, senior Katie Shannon and Moffitt combined to win silver in the 200-yard freestyle relay with 1:43.51.

Seniors Avery Conrad, Brieyana Walton and Aubrey Blickman and freshman Ella Roberts made it two team's on the podium. The relay team took second in the 400-yard medley relay with 4:12.42. 

The Regals continue the season at home with a dual against Concordia on Oct. 23 at 11 a.m.
