Hiller, Walton Set New Program Records at SCIAC Championships Day 3

COMMERCE, Calif. — Sophomore Abby Hiller and freshman Brieyana Walton notched two new program records Saturday night at day three of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. After 14 events, the Cal Lutheran Regals currently sit in seventh place with 210 points heading into the final day. 

Hiller set the new program record of 285.45 in the three-meter dive, breaking the previous record of 284.85 set by Carlie Burow in 2017, and finished in 13th overall. Walton's career-best performance came a few events later in the 100-breaststroke where she finished 11th at 1:06.94. Joining Walton in the 100-breaststroke finals, junior Emily Glass came just behind her in 12th at 1:07.27. 

With the team's top finish of the night, senior Anna Lundsten, Walton, junior Brianna Baldwin and senior Grace Sanchez, came in sixth (4:00.58) in the 400-medley relay. In the same event, freshman Avery Conrad, Glass, sophomore McKenzie Kelly and junior Emily Sharpe nabbed 16th (4:10.56). 

Rounding out the Regals' finals qualifiers, Conrad finished 12th in the 400-individual medley (4:46.75), Sharpe claimed 16th in the 200-free (1:59.53) and Baldwin took 18th in the 100-butterfly (1:00.95). 

Competition concludes tomorrow at the Brenda Villa Aquatics Center in Commerce, California, and team conference champions will be crowned. For more information and the full schedule, head to TheSCIAC.org.
