Stewart and Vis Named to All-West Region Squad

KANSAS CITY, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's soccer continues to add accolades with Monday night's announcement of the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-West Region selections. For the first time in both of their careers, junior Zandra Stewart picked up second team honors and freshman Danielle Vis was named to the third team.   

Stewart led the backline for the Regals, playing in all 17 contests in 2018 and served as a team captain. The center back held opponents to just a .032 shot percentage and .29 goals per game. She additionally recorded an assist against Chapman, taking advantage of a free kick from 30 yards out to find junior Maddy Griess in the box for the score. Her defensive performance also earned her All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team honors. 

Offensively, freshman standout Vis earned her spot in the starting lineup, recording three goals in her last eight contests to send the team into playoffs with an eight-game undefeated streak. The forward's speed had defenders falling behind her, leading to her two assists on the season and team-leading 16 shots on goal. Her debut performance additionally nabbed her second team All-Conference honors. 

The two combined to help the Regals to an overall 10-2-5 record and 8-2-4 record in conference play.
