Regals Tie Program Record for Lowest 36-Hole Score

VENTURA, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's golf tied the program record for lowest 36-hole score with 605 strokes at the CA State Intercollegiate. 

The Regals placed fifth with a score 29-over-par. The Regals shot a 301 on Monday and 304 on Tuesday to tie the program mark. The score of 605 was set in the fall of 2019. 

The CA State Intercollegiate is one of three tournaments the Violet and Gold will play this fall. The tournament featured 10 teams and 59 individuals. The golfers played 18 holes on both days.

Competing for the team score was Jett Legacion, Beth Milne, Tara Ng, Ashley Zook and Claire Cornejo

Legacion led the team and tied for 15th. She carded a 6-over-par with 151 strokes (75-76). Milne, Ng and Zook all tied for 22nd, with 152 strokes, at 8-over-par. Milne shot 77-75, Ng had a reverse score with 75-77 and Zook shot 74-78. Cornejo tied for 41st at 17-over-par (84-77-161). 

Competing individually was Grace Mitchell, Maya dela Rama, Anna Bello, Victoria Ruiz, Kaylie Hesse and Harlee Samp

Mitchell was the lowest individual as she tied for 37th at 15-over-par (78-81-159). de la Rama and Bello tied for 41st at 17-over-par. de la Rama shot 82-79 and Bello carded 81-80. Hesse was next at and tied for 51st at 25-over-par (83-86-169) and Samp was 57th at 51-over-par (102-93-195). Ruiz withdrew from the tournament.

The Regals continue their fall season Sept. 24-25. Cal Lutheran will compete in the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Invitational at the San Dimas Golf Club. The days are set to start at 8 a.m.
