THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — California Lutheran University women's golf competed in three tournaments in the fall and is ready for its spring season.
The Regals had an impressive fall, finishing second, fifth and seventh at tournaments. The Purple and Gold have six tournaments this spring to get them ready for a conference championship run. The team has six returners, led by senior Grace Cornejo, and added two newcomers.
Roster | Schedule
Cal Lutheran gets the season underway Feb. 12-13 as they travel to Mountain Meadows in Pomona, Calif., to take on Redlands in a dual. We talked with Head Coach Jeff Lindgren about the upcoming season.
Your team saw some action last year, how has that helped you going into the new season?
The team played in three events (six rounds) in fall 2021 and had a team stroke average of 313, best fall season in school history
What can you tell us about the returning class, which Regals should we be looking out for?
Grace Cornejo, Claire Cornejo & Tara Ng will be leading the way with lots of tournament experience
Then you have the incoming class, who can make noise?
Both Jett Legacion & Ashley Zook will play an important role and will make the team better.
What can you tell us about your schedule, what meets are you looking forward to?
We are excited to host SCIAC #1 at Olivas Links Golf Course February 26-27 and our second annual CLU Kingsmen & Regals Invitational at Moorpark Country Club March 14-15. In addition, the team will play in the Redlands Bulldog Classic at The S Club in Rancho Mirage
What are your thoughts about the season? What can we expect from the team?
I know the team has been working hard to get ready for the spring and is very excited to have the opportunity to play. I expect that the success from the fall of 2021 will continue to help motivate all the team to future success this spring.
