Regals Place Fifth at Fall Redlands Shootout

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — California Lutheran University women's golf competed at the Fall Redlands Shootout which was held at The S at Rancho Mirage on Saturday and Monday. 

The meet featured six teams and 38 individuals with the Par of the course being 72. As a team, Cal Lutheran shot a 316 on day one and improved with a 20-over-par 308 on day two. The two-day total gave them 624 strokes as they finished in fifth place. 
 
Grace Cornejo led the Regals at the tournament. She tied for the tournament-low over the first 18 holes and fired a 76 on Saturday. She followed that up by firing the lowest round of any Regal with a 75 during the final 18. She tallied 151 stroke and was tied for 13th at 7-over-par.  G. Cornejo tied for seventh in scoring average for Par 3s and was Even. She recorded a team-high 23 Pars and added three birdies. 

Claire Cornejo, Tara Ng and Ashley Zook all tied for 24th at 16-over-par. C. Cornejo shot a 76 and 84, Ng recorded an 81 and 79 and Zook carded an 83 and 77. Zook moved up six spots over the final 18 holes and Ng moved up two. 

Ng tied for the most birdies on the team with four and added 20 birdies. C. Cornejo had a team-best scoring average on 4.88 on Pars 5, which was the sixth-best at the tournament. 

Haley Brown finished her tournament in 30th place. She started with an 84 and turned around to fire a 77, giving her 161 strokes at 17-over-par. Brown tied for the most birdies on the team with four. 

Grace Mitchell competed as an individual. She came in 36th place at 27-over-par. She shot an 88 on day one and improved with an 83 on the second. 

The final tournament of the fall season for the Regals is Oct. 4-5 at the LeTourneau Intercollegiate in Gladewater, Texas.
