THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— The 2020 Cal Lutheran softball schedule has been released and Regals softball will travel to Arizona and Texas for non-conference as they prepare for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference grind.
This year brings a new adjusted conference schedule as teams will now compete in a three-game series, instead of four. This brings the total amount of SCIAC games to 21.
The Regals start the year and have their home opener against the same team, Antelope Valley. CLU travels to Lancaster for the season opener and will play a doubleheader on Jan. 28 at 12 and 2 p.m. The Regals then return home for their season opener on Feb. 5 with the games set for the same time.
The next four doubleheaders should help prepare the Regals for the SCIAC grind. It starts with three down in Texas as Cal Lutheran takes on Schreiner (Feb. 9), Trinity (Feb. 11) and Southwestern (Feb. 12).
After the six-game stretch, CLU returns home for a non-conference doubleheader with Pacific Lutheran (Feb.17) and it starts at 12 p.m.
On Feb. 28, the Regals get their first conference action as Cal Lutheran welcomes Pomona-Pitzer for a game at Hutton Field that will start at 1 p.m. All SCIAC games this year are a three-game series with one game on a Friday and two games on a Saturday.
The next conference games at home for Cal Lutheran is a game with La Verne (March 6), a doubleheader with Redlands (March 28), a game with Whittier (April 3), a doubleheader with Chapman (April 11), a game with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (April 17) and a doubleheader with Occidental (April 25) for Senior Day.
Breaking up the conference slate is two more doubleheaders, both at home. The Regals host Willamette (March 21) and Lewis & Clark (March 22).
The top four teams in conference will advance to the SCIAC Tournament with the champion earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
