Kingsmen 20th at NCAA West Regional

SPOKANE, Wash.  — Cal Lutheran men's cross country traveled north and competed at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday afternoon. The Kingsmen placed 20th with 526.

Whitworth University hosted the regional and the race was at Plantes Ferry Sports Complex. The race was run in the mid-30s with snow on the ground, a first some Cal Lutheran runners. The event featured 20 teams and 162 individuals. 

Sebastian Sawyer was the first Kingsmen to cross the finish line. He was 92nd with a time of 26 minutes and 22.1 seconds. 

Jonathan Aguilar made it two Kingsmen in the top 100. Aguilar clocked a time of  26:59.1 and was 98th. The time was a lifetime best for Aguilar. 

Eric Talbert, Alexander Conn and Logan Bury rounded out the scoring five. Talbert was 129th with 27:59.6, Conn placed 133rd with 28:14.9 and Bury was 141st with 28:35.9. Conn's time was a lifetime best. 

Also competing for the Kingsmen was George Gaitanis in 145th with 28:56.0 and Max Segeberg in 158th with 31:09.8. 

The Kingsmen graduate two seniors and will bring back plenty of experience in 2023.
