Kingsmen Place Third, Talbert Seventh in Season Opener

MOORPARK, Calif.  — Eric Talbert was a top finisher as the Cal Lutheran men's cross team opened its 2022 season at the Moorpark College Open.

The teams raced at Arroyo Vista Park. The Kingsmen placed third, out of seven teams, with a score of 78.

Talbert led the way placing seventh with a time of 21 minutes and 48.81 seconds. Sebastian Sawyer was the second Kingsmen in the top-15. He placed 14th and crossed the finish line at 22:53.90.

James Sutton and George Gaitanis both competed in their first collegiate race. Sutton placed 18th with a time of 23:10.89 and Gaitanis was 21st with 23:21.26.

Rounding out the five scores for the Kingsmen was Max Segeberg. He took 24th and recorded a time of 23:39.29. 

Also competing for the Kingsmen was Moises Velasquez (40th, 25:48.71), Xavier Reynoso (48th, 27:33.99) and Ian Skrinde (59th, 32:04.70). 

The Kingsmen are back in action next week and race in the Vanguard Invite on Friday, Sept.9, at 8 a.m.
