Kingsmen Finish Ninth at UC Riverside Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif.  — The California Lutheran University men's cross country team competed in the UC Riverside Invitational at the UCR Agriculture Operations Course on Saturday morning. It was the second meet of the season for the Kingsmen.

Results

The Kingsmen wrapped up the meet and competed in the fourth race of the day, the Men's Open, which was eight kilometers. The Purple and Gold placed ninth with a score of 235.

Sophomore Sebastian Sawyer led the way and took home 26th place with a time of 26 minutes and 3.5 seconds. Sawyer's time was the fourth fastest time in program history at the course. 

Freshman Eric Talbert was the next Kingsmen to cross the finish line and took home 65th place with 27:14.0. His time also placed in the top-10 for program history and came in at ninth. 

Also competing for the Kingsmen was senior Nicholas Abbinanti, sophomore Max Segeberg, junior Jonathan Aguilar, senior Luke VanKeersbilck and senior Xavier Reynoso.

Abbinanti was 86th as he crossed the finish line with 27:40.8, Segeberg was 138th with 29:25.6, Aguilar finished his day in 140th place with 29:27.7, Van Keersbilck was 145th with 29:45.3 and Reynoso was 162nd with 33:01.9. 

The Kingsmen continue their season next Saturday and travel to Santa Clarita, Calif., for The Master's Invitational at Central Park.
