Kingsmen Fall to CMS in Road Matchup

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's water polo was on the road was a conference matchup and came up short against Claremont-Mudd- Scripps 10-6 on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Kingsmen to 2-2 in SCIAC play and 7-12 overall. CMS is now 4-1 in conference and 9-10 overall.

The Stags got off to a hot start and took a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. The Kingsmen responded in the second, outscoring the Stags 4-2, and trailed 6-5 at the break. 

The defenses came up big in the third as each team scored just one goal. The Violet and Gold had their chances in the fourth, but were shutout as CMS scored three goals and took the game. 

 Dillon Goldsmith led the offense with two goals and five different Kingsmen had an assist. Cole Weiderman set up the offense with four drawn ejections.

On defense, the Kingsmen recorded 15 steals with Justin Boals, Ben Brown and Adam Dow having two each. Bo DuBois was in goal and recorded seven saves and five steals. 

The Kingsmen return home for their next game. Cal Lutheran and La Verne are set for this Saturday at 11 a.m. Afterwards, the Kingsmen host an alumni game at 1 p.m.
