Kingsmen Score Early and Often, Defeat Toronto 20-15

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — In a non-conference matchup on Sunday morning, Cal Lutheran men's water polo took on the Varsity Blues from the University of Toronto. The Kingsmen defeated the Varsity Blues 20-15.

The Kingsmen offense got the scoring started early and often. Cal Lutheran scored the first six goals of the game and had a 6-1 advantage after the first quarter. 

Cal Lutheran picked up in the second quarter where they left off at the end of the first. The Violet and Gold scored first and continued to add to their lead. At the half, the Kingsmen were up 11-4.

The Kingsmen got their backups experience and game time as the Varsity Blues closed the gap to 12-8 at the end of the third. Cal Lutheran went back to their starters in the fourth and took the game. 

Ben Brown and Dillon Goldsmith led the offense with five and four goals, respectively. Brown, Adam Dow and Goldsmith kept the ball moving and dished out plenty of assists. Brown had the most with five and Dow and Goldsmith added four each. 

Bo DuBois was in the cage for the Kingsmen. He made 10 saves and got the win. On defense, the Kingsmen tallied two steals and five field blocks.

Up next, the Kingsmen get back into conference play. Cal Lutheran is at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
