Brown, Goldsmith, Lundgren Named ACWPC All-America

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the 2018 Men's Varsity Division III All-America honors and Ben Brown was named to the First Team while Dillon Goldsmith and George Lundgren were Honorable Mention.

The ACWPC All-America teams are selected based on nominations and voting by the head coach of each program in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division (Division I, II, III). For the second straight year, Cal Lutheran had a student-athlete named to the First Team. The Violet and Gold also had three players selected for the second year in a row.

Brown, a freshman from Chula Vista, Calif., is just the fourth Kingsmen to earn First Team Collegiate Water Polo All-America honors. He was also named to the All-SCIAC First Team. He led the Kingsmen with 57 steals and 36 assists. In program history, the steals are the fifth-most and the assists are the third-most for a season. He tied for second on the team with 49 goals and added 23 drawn ejections and 10 field blocks.

Goldsmith, a freshman from San Marino, Calif., earned Honorable Mention All-America. He adds that honor to his Second Team All-SCIAC award. He tied for second on the team with 49 goals. He was second on the team with 32 drawn ejections. He also totaled 19 steals, nine field blocks and eight steals.

Lundgren, a junior from La Grange Park, Ill., garnered Honorable Mention honors. He led the team with 50 goals which were the sixth-most in the SCIAC. He had the second-most steals on the team and fourth-most in the SCIAC with 49. His 49 steals also tied for the ninth-most during a season in program history. He added 15 assists, 14 drawn ejections and 14 field blocks.

Since 2005, the mission of the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) is to promote the development and advancement of collegiate water polo. This shall be accomplished by providing its membership with professional education, services, training and a united voice.
