Gardhouse Named First Team

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Cal Lutheran's Chris Gardhouse was named to the 2017 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) First Team. The SCIAC teams were announced Thursday following a vote by the league's member head coaches.

Gardhouse earned First Team for the first time in his career. He was named to the Second Team in 2015. A native of Agoura Hills, Calif., Gardhouse led the Kingsmen and was tied for fifth in the conference with 59 goals. The senior also tallied 23 assists. A center-defender, Gardhouse was a force to be reckoned with on the offense and the defense. Against conference-only competititon, Gardhouse scored 29 goals and added 11 assists. He finished his career with the fourth-most goals in school history with 162 and the second-most drawn ejections with 175.

Pomona-Pitzer's Daniel Diemer was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year, Whittier's Hans Zdolsek was named SCIAC Newcomer of the Year and Caltech's Head Coach Jon Banafede and his staff were named the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
