Kingsmen Honor Seniors

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's water polo team honored eight senior as the Kingsmen hosted Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) matchup Saturday morning at the Samuelson Aquatics Center. The Kingsmen came up short and fell to the Stags 10-5.

The eight senior that were honored before the game were George French, Chris Gardhouse, Nick Loomis, Kevin Oetken, Ramon Olivier V, Davy Thomas, Jake Venckus and Zach Zamecki.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps opened up the scoring and the Kingsmen were quick to answer as Oetken answered. French had the assist. The Stags scored two more first quarter goals and had a 3-1 lead.

In the second quarter, Gardhouse found Matt Fong for the Violet and Gold's second goal of the game. Gardhouse added another goal a little bit later, but the Kingsmen were down 5-1 at the half. CMS kept up the pressure in the third quarter and scored three goals to increase their lead to 8-3.

Zamecki and French each scored a goal in the fourth quarter, but the Stags scored two as well and won the game 10-5.

Loomis played three quarters in front of the cage and Venckus played the other quarter. Loomis and Venckus blocked seven and two shots, respectively.

The Kingsmen ended the 2017 season with an overall record of 12-14 and were 6-8 in the SCIAC.
