No. 13 Kingsmen Battle No. 5 Cardinals

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — No. 13 California Lutheran University men's volleyball was bested by No. 5 North Central 3-0 on Monday night. Scores of the match were 25-22, 25-11, 25-21.

The was the first game of a six-game road trip in Illinois. The Kingsmen opened up with a tough test as they took on the No. 5th team in the country, the Cardinals. 

The Kingsmen had a lead in the first set and jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead. North Central was quick to answer and tied the game at 6. The score was tied five times before the Cardinals went up 13-11.

With North Central up 17-16, the Cardinals went on a 4-0 run and took a 21-16 lead. They won the set and carried that momentum into the next sets. The Cardinals shut down the Kingsmen in the second set, 25-11, and went onto sweep the match in the third. 

Ben Weber led the team on offense and had a team-high 13 kills. Taylor Marks and Seamus McDonagh split time at the setter position. McDonagh dished out 13 assists and Marks had 12 more. 

Dylan Schreibfeder made himself known around the net and tallied five total blocks. Eli Moore was in the libero position for the Kingsmen and recorded 11 digs. 

The Kingsmen continue their Illinois road trip on Wednesday. Cal Lutheran plays Marian at 2:30 p.m. and North Park at 5. Times are PST.
