Friederichs, Reynoso Notch PRs at Oxy Distance Carnival

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Junior Henry Friederichs and freshman Xavier Reynoso both ran new lifetime personal records in the 3000m steeplechase at Saturday's Occidental Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic. Alongside them, four more Cal Lutheran Kingsmen clocked in season-bests on the afternoon. 

Getting the day rolling, freshmen Luke VanKeersbilck and Kyle Penner both ran a season-best in the 800m run. VanKeersbilck clocked in at 2:03.32 (42nd) and Penner at 2:16.59 (80th). 

Moving on to the 1500m run, sophomore Connor Neufeld-Griffin once again nabbed a season-best, crossing the line at 4:04.12, good for 16th and the team's highest finish of the day. In the same race, junior Connor Richter came across at 4:20.06 (100th). 

On to the team's personal record breakers, Friederichs ran a 10:21.21 (21st) in the 3000m steeplechase, followed by Reynoso at 12:14.90 (30th). 

Rounding out the group, junior Rigoberto Baza recorded a season-best 15:50.16 in the 5000k (131st). 

The team returns to the track on Friday, March 15, for the Redlands Invitational. Events kick off at 3:30 p.m. at the Ashel Cunninham Track.
