Roster | Schedule
The Kingsmen play UC Santa Cruz on Saturday at 12 p.m. We talked with Head Coach Mike Gennette about the upcoming season.
Your team saw some action last year, how has that helped you going into the new season?
Most of our season last year was against top NCAA Division II and NAIA schools, we also had some amazing 5-4 wins in conference. We gained valuable experience playing against very strong teams and also learned how to win under pressure.
What can you tell us about the returning class, which Kingsmen should we be looking out for?
Our captains Ryan Murphy and Isaiah Volk are both healthy and ready to make a big impact on the team this year. Darvel Lossangoye also had a great year last year and is looking to play near or at the top of our ladder.
Then you have the incoming class, who can make noise?
We have a lot of new talent on the team this year including standout Parker McBride from Santa Clarita. I would look for big things from him this year as he has a chance to play at the very top of the ladder.
What can you tell us about your schedule, what meets are you looking forward to?
We have a lot of teams coming in from out of state this year which will be great to finally be able to play against some of the nationally ranked Division III teams again. We also have one out of state trip that should give us a chance to show our stuff against additional national ranked teams. So there will be no shortage of opportunities to make our mark in the rankings this year.
What are your thoughts about the season? What can we expect from the team?
Our team has a lot of depth as well as some strength at the top of the ladder. Our goal this year is to achieve a national ranking. I think we're ready to step up and turn some heads!
