Kingsmen Sweep Panthers

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The California Lutheran men's tennis team got a big win as the Kingsmen swept the Principia Panthers 9-0 Monday afternoon at the Poulson Tennis Center.

Cal Lutheran won its second straight match. The Kingsmen swept their opponent in both wins.  CLU is now 2-8 on the season. The Panthers dropped to 6-3.

The Kingsmen claimed all three doubles matches and had a 3-0 lead. Yahn Gawrit and Lucas Tilly combined for the won at the No. 1 spot (8-4). Dara Kashani and Andrew Tufenkian claimed the win at the No. 2 spot (8-2). Ransom Braaten and Joshua Legardy made it 3-0 as they won at the No. 3 (8-1).

CLU continued that dominance into singles play. Each Kingsmen won their match in straight sets. Gawrit defeated the Panthers at the No. 1 spot (6-1, 6-1), Tilly was victorious at the No. 2 (7-5, 6-2), Sebastian Ariza claimed the No. 3 (6-3, 7-6), Florent Auteil won the No. 4 (6-4, 6-4), Kylel Gillam only allowed one point at the No. 5 (6-1, 6-0) and Legardy won at the No. 6 (6-2, 6-0).

Cal Lutheran has a day off before they're back at the courts. The Kingsmen host Salisbury Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Poulson Tennis Center.
